I Have Been to the Other Side...

After experimenting with the sales on Thanksgiving... I hope to never again subject myself to anything like that ever again. 2+ hours waiting in line at Toy R Us does not make a happy father... just saying.

Happy Birthday

Well, it is my daughter's sweet 16 today. We have some things planned... like taking her out to eat at her favorite restaurant, presents, baked from scratch cake that she loves. There really is no party, I tried and the wife tried to find out if she wanted one, but it was just not to be. Still Happy Birthday, I look back at everything we have been through and I am amazed. Only 5 more years until you are legal, and 2 more before you can vote. We are all scared, but it is okay, we all went through 16.

Stupid Weather Channel

I know this is common knowledge, but really? Watch the Weather Channel for a hurricane update, and you might as well be watching your own funeral. Flip to the local weather and they say the hurricane likely won't be coming towards Hilton Head, more towards Charleston or Myrtle Beach, or maybe out to sea. So watch Weather Channel if you wish to be scared, otherwise watch the local weather. Stupid, stupid Weather Channel.

The next time you read an article that you think is witty or revealing, and you want to share it with someone... If there is anyway it could be taken the wrong way.... just don't. Because it WILL be taken the wrong way...

Eating

I eat a banana a day, usually for lunch. I see they (Chiquita) have spiced up there stickers a bit. One says "Zero fat zero sodium." Well ok I guess, I mean I would hope so. It is kind of like buying a bag of potato chips and having them say "sugar free". I get it, but it is besides the point is it not?

They Are Coming

I can't help but look at what we are doing (getting ready to have my wife's brother and his family over for a short... less than a week stay) and wonder why we go through so much trouble. Everybody goes through it. The cleaning, the shampooing the carpets, the lawn has to look just so, everything has to look new, bright, clean, manicured... for what? So they can dirty it? I'm being facetious, but really why put yourself though it all? Still I do it just like everyone else... I'm so happy to see you... because our carpets needed cleaning anyway. Family, you have to love `em.

You Need What?

My five-year-old said something the other day that was so funny... me and my wife have been repeating it constantly. We heard this over the baby monitor, which she knows is there, but it kind of gets forgotten about, until something like this happens. What did she say? Well she said  "I need nose medicine" but she was kind of singing it like a robot. Over and over and over again. Now she wishes she didn't sing it, but I keep telling her that we keep mocking her because we love her and it really is pretty funny. We did get her some medicine by the way...

The End of the World as We Know It

So, it comes or goes fairly easy I guess. To all of those people that think the end is coming... it is but I seriously doubt it will come on May 21st. Come back on the 22nd and we will laugh at you. It is ok, when it comes and goes I don't think I will remember it. But I tip my glass to you anyway.

Days of Thunder

It is days like today that I miss that stupid dog all the more. Thumper never would go into "freak out" mode because of a thunderstorm. Meanwhile, the dog that did not get munched on by an alligator, is a complete wacko when it rains. Which makes me question if that whole evolution thing is real. Because honestly, I would have thought that this fear or learned behavior would have died out by now...

A saying...

A man, much wiser than me once said "Never miss an opportunity to show the boss you're working." What did he mean by that? Well he meant to get caught, red handed, doing what you are paid to do. So with that said, off to work I go...

What is the Point?

Perusing the intra-webs and I notice something rather strange. People can't stay on the subject at hand. I know it is... human nature I guess. But if I want to say something is good or bad, I then give reasons why I think so, and let that be that. Maybe I offer up some new facts to support my opinion in a rebuttal. But some folks get so caught up in the ensuing "battle" they forget what it was they were fighting for in the first place (at least that is what it looks like to me). Sometimes I think we let this thing called the internet make a fool out of us all...

How About a 3-Day?

On top of all the other stuff that is going on in my life... I call my wife (who is at a conference in Myrtle Beach) and hand the phone over to my daughter (the Songbird) and what does she do? Throw-up (that is vomit) all over my phone, herself, and the carpet. Needless to say I now have a three day weekend... But I don't think I will be enjoying any of it.

So you see this article HERE... It tells me something I already knew. Zapp's potato chips are really, really good. Well thanks to a more global view of everything, Mardi Gras is near, and World Market has Zapp's...to celebrate the holiday and they are so very good...

Nothing Much to Play For

I'm just talking, from my point of view... neither team was playing for much of anything. Now I know, I'm a Saints fan, so my loyalties are a bit slanted, but both teams have won this thing before... and there wasn't that "oh we might get beat" factor that is a part of every Saints game ever. Congrats to the Packers, but it might as well have been the 42-10 Superbowl (Redskins beating the Broncos) that was rather boring. Well like I said, from this person's point of view. Maybe next year we will see more drama, if the Saints get there, I promise there won't be a minute where you won't be right at the edge of your seat. Onside kick to start off the second half anyone?

State of the Union

So I hear a lady with the Obama administration on NPR. Basically the NPR reporter was asking if the president will suggest spending cuts now or later. It is obvious he will do it, the question was WHEN. She simply could not answer the question. That was the thing that used to upset me about Bill Clinton... and George Bush. If you can't answer the question, then just say, I can't answer the freaking question. Instead we get this self-haranguing that turns me off. I had to turn off the radio, because I knew we wouldn't get an answer out of this person. And it was tiring listening to her anymore. I try to be open-minded but when this shit starts up, it is very hard to do....

January 12

It took me a year to notice this, but the earthquake in Haiti and my ex-wife's birthday are on the same day... A connection perhaps? I think so...

So It Goes

Only the fucking Saints... can loose to a loosing team in the playoffs... Yep it is all coming back now... maybe I should have everyone measured for their 'Aints bag. Maybe next year.
