I always say how ironic it is that my kid(s) are out of school for this day (Veterans Day) and my wife is off, because she is a teacher... meanwhile, I have to go to work. Where I work, all of my co-workers are former military... they will be at work today too. WTF?!?

I was always appalled by that, too. Here, the banks and some stores may be closed, but the schools are in session - and they all have several-hours-long programs that not only honor but feed the veterans. It is amazing to see kids from PreK all the way to Seniors serving food to, as well as giving speeches in honor of, our veterans. When the flag passes, every cowboy hat is doffed, and no heart is uncovered - even the tiny children. It would make you proud.
